Family Reunions, Texas Barbecue, and Wine Pairings

This edition of Wine Craft is the only clue anyone in my family is going to have that I’m on my way to crash our family reunion in Houston, Texas this weekend. It’s not the first time I’ve come to Houston without any prior notice; I surprised my dad at his job on his 50th birthday and his reaction was so awesome that when I got the chance to surprise everyone at once I just had to do it.

So here I am, hiding out in Houston after a quick plane ride from Las Vegas, waiting for two things: making my bi entrance tomorrow and eating some of the awesome barbecue that will be waiting for me. We’re talking major anticipation and one burning question… “What should I make?!

Since Houston is my home away from home, I really want to make a great impression to the rest of the family and create food and wine pairings that combine something I love with something they’re familiar with. Texas is all about barbecue, so I found eight incredible barbecue recipes and created some wine pairings, all in an effort to hopefully put extra big smiles on my family’s faces. It’s been way too long since I have seen them. I can’t wait for this weekend!
